Canon PG-210XL & CL-211XL Ink Cartridge Combo Pack with Photo Paper (2973B004) - High-Quality Printing for Photos, Documents & Crafts

I tried refilled cartridges for almost a semester and they just weren't good enough for production work. No more experiments.Good productThe item I am reviewing is the Canon PG-210 XL CL-211 XL and 4-Inches x 6-Inches - 50 Sheets.Many people complain about the high cost of ink for photo printers and photo paper. If you print out a lot of photos like I do, you need a good deal on everyday photo printing supplies, and that's what this product is: a good deal. I print hundreds of photos a year for my own personal use and also for showing photos of events and costumes and performances to my customers. My opinion is that for basic photos, this paper and ink cartridge deal will provide a good value for the price. You get about 50 sheets of 4inches by 6 inches sized photo paper in the box. I say about 50 sheets because the latest box I purchased had 51 sheets in it. No complaints here! The paper included in the box is standard glossy photo paper. It's the type of paper that most photo counters at retail stores and major drugstore chains will use to print you photos on. Unless you need album quality professional photos like wedding photos, this paper is fine for most basic uses. For casual family pictures to put in brag books or to give to aunts, grandmas and cousins, it's fine. I also use this ink and paper set to print out a few photos to give away to my event customers as a thank you for their patronage. For portraits and artistic photos, and for professional portfolio use I would use a higher quality paper like Canon Pro Luster or Pro Platinum.The ink in the box is good quality and made for use in Canon printers. Tip: make sure you double-check the model number of the printer you have on Canon's website or use the information provided by Amazon to make sure you can use this cartridge size! The photos printed using this paper and ink combination do last about as long as photos printed from a retail or drugstore chain. I've been using Canon ink and paper for about ten years now, and both are easy to use and fairly durable. Just follow the instructions in and on the package in addition to the instructions that came with your printer, and you will have an easy time inserting the cartridges and printing your photos. Another tip: don't forget to take the orange tape off the bottom of the cartridges before inserting them and make sure that there is no tape residue left before printing. Often people complain that their ink cartridges don't work when all that needs to be done to rectify the problem is a little tape removal.Overall, I enjoy using Canon photography products and they have good phone support too if needed; that's how I found out about the tape issue when I first started printing my own photos!I would definitely consider buying the Canon PG-210 XL CL-211 XL and 4-Inches x 6-Inches - 50 Sheets set from Amazon again the next time I need basic photo paper and ink! The single black that I ordered last time wouldn't work in our printer: the printer kept saying there was no ink in the machine. Had to discard because it was a dud. This double pack seems to be okay. I do think the ink is over priced but there doesn't seem to be much of a choice these days.You won't find this combo for a better price anywhere (if you do, please let me know right away . . . ). I'm a writer and freelance editor and I depend on my Cannon iP2700 printer every day for my work. This is the only ink I'll use. I've tried the recycled inks offered at much lower prices through both Office Max and Staples but Cannon printers, at least my Cannon printer, can't process them. So, I'm left with the more expensive Cannon ink. In this packet you get 1 black and 1 color cartridge and a packet of 4X6 gloss photo paper. I found a unique way to use the photo paper this year: Post Cards and Christmas Greetings. As long is it is no more than 4.5 by 6, a card qualifies as a post card (note: you also have to have the mailing address clearly shown as well as the stamp (48 cents if domestic, to go outside the US go to http://www.bitboost.com/ref/international-address-formats/international-postal-rates/ ). Wow! What a response! I'm thinking I may start up a little side business . . . . So, anyway, don't let those 50 sheets go to waste. If you can't use them, send them to me ;>) -PEACE-This is a very good quality ink. Always have used the original Canon ink. Used once a refilled cartridge and ruined the printer. On the negative side, irrespective of the quality of the ink, it is most certainly overpriced. Shouldn't cost as much.Ink didn't dry out on me, still able to print just fine. Bought it for $54 USD back then which is pretty expensive, but at least it didn't dry up on me after more than 3 years. Have printed stuff every so often throughout those 3 years, and didn't have any issues with ink.So is the price worth it?? i'd say yes. Who knows how much longer the ink will last. Pretty surprised i have no issues after more than 3 years.
