DESCRIPTION
These elephant dung photo frames are made from 75% elephant dung and 25% recycled paper and make a great quirky but practical gift. They are fairly traded and handmade by skilled artisans in Sri Lanka with elephant dung paper from the Maximus Elephant Conservation Trust. This item is a brilliant idea for a gift. My close friend is an avid believer of caring for the environment, and caring for animals, so when I stumbled across this item I knew she would love it straight away. I'm not entirely certain how they have made it into such a good quality product, but it seems that elephant dung is a very good ingredient for creating strong sturdy shapes! The elephant dung effect is lovely, and has a strong resemblance to the handmade scarp booking paper we usually know as mulberry paper. The price is slightly higher than I would usually pay for stationery accessories, however you have to take into account the manual labour and personal care taken to make this product. I have yet to discover how it would fare in a rainstorm... but we shall leave that to another today :)
