This product is perfectly sturdy and has clean edges, when you cut it with a sharp new blade. All paper should be treated as such when cutting! I have had no problems with this product and it works perfect for my Coptic sewn journals. I intend to buy a stiffer or rather a bit thicker board for my bookcloth bound pieces.Enjoy this product without fears of purchasing a poor product and if you look at any of my reviews u will see I am not afraid to leave a bad review for a bad product. This just is not one of them. You need a slightly heavier board for bookcloth bound journals I do believe
